The University of Dodoma (Udom) community is committed to taking care of the trees planted in line with the goal of reuniting Dodoma. The opinion was given today on January 27, 2024, by the Head of Kondoa District, Dr. Hamis Mkanachi, when he represented the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, at the tree planting exercise towards the 60th Anniversary of the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar.
Dr. Mkanachi has said that the exercise of planting trees must be in line with the strategies to take care of trees so that there is a meaning to the exercise and a real interpretation of bringing it together in Dodoma.
Dr. Mkanachi has also directed the Forestry Services Agency to increase the production of seedlings to meet the goal of planting 40 million trees for the Dodoma region.
Welcoming the Guest of Honor, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dodoma, Prof. Lughano Kusiluka, has thanked the Government for appointing the University of Dodoma to be part of the planting of trees towards the 60th anniversary of the Union and that UDOM will continue to be a leader in the Campaign to Unite Dodoma.
Prof. Kusiluka added that UDOM is happy to celebrate the birthday of Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania by planting trees while leading environmental stakeholders to sing to Hon. A song to wish the President a Happy Birthday.
The exercise has been held at the green belt area of the University of Dodoma where a total of 1,000 trees have been planted. The University of Dodoma has planned to plant 30,000 trees this year of which a total of 11,500 trees have already been planted.
